Fall Equinox

Today is the Fall Equinox. It is the historical time when we celebrate the harvest. In prior generations, the Fall Equinox usually was a big community celebration with the sharing of the earth's bounty of food along with rituals to honor the planet. In our modern era this big cosmic event has morphed mostly into becoming pumpkin spice season. But we can celebrate this marker in time and can still direct our thoughts, hearts, and gratitude and  direct it back to mother earth.

We can give honor and support to the planet in our own way on this day. Perhaps a loving toast with a glass of wine. Or maybe sharing some of your garden harvest with friends or neighbors. Or maybe have a meditative hike at sunset and give a blessing to the planet as the sun ends its day.

On this Fall Equinox, I am reminded there is value in allowing our minds to unfold and be open to have new wonders and experiences join our soul. For example, we can get to a mindset and allow ourselves to experience what it is like to be a rock. We can sit stationary and feel all aspects of being that element. Or we can choose to experience becoming a flower, for example. We can then see and feel the colors, textures, shapes, as well as fragrance from that sensual experience. We can even allow the experience between the flower and the insects and marvel at what interchange occurs in that window of connection.

The Fall Equinox can be a time to be engaged and connected with the planet in many different ways - all can have value and purpose in enhancing your life experience on this planet.
