Edible Olives

Italy is known for its olives.
June, our instructor, shared how some boaters came upon an olive tree that had branches hanging in the sea. The fruit that was not hanging in the sea water was bitter, but the fruit that had been hanging in the sea was nice and tasty. This was how people learned olives could be made edible by soaking the fruit in salt water or brine.
