Today is International Happiness day. The first ever! All 193 United Nations members adopted a resolution calling for happiness to be given greater priority and March 20 was declared as the International Day of Happiness - a day to inspire action for a happier world.
The focus for International Day of Happiness is on bringing happiness to others. Creating a happier society requires action at all levels - not just from political leaders and institutions but also from us as individual citizens. When we do things to bring happiness to others, everyone benefits. It helps the people we connect with, boosts our own well-being and also inspires others to be more caring and positive too.
So, in honor of the very first International Happiness Day, I'm sharing a TED talk by Nic Marks; The Happy Planet Index.
In summary, the 5 things to help you be happier and improve your well-being in every day life are:
1 - connect with others; invest the time with your family and friends
2 - be active; go outside, turn on music, move.
3 - take notice of what is around you, like the seasons. Be mindful
4 - keep learning; be curious
5 - be generous; give
I wish you true happiness!
