Retired Hubby?

One of my gal friend's hubby was forced into an early retirement and as a result, he was not prepared for this life change event. He moped around the house for awhile but eventually found a group that helped him keep involved and be active.  This group is an organization called SIR; Sons in Retirement.

SIR is a non-profit public benefit corporation for retired men. SIR assists men in renewing old friendships and making new friends through SIR activities. According to their website, having fun is their primary goal. They have more than 20,000 members in 150 Branches throughout northern California, from Bakersfield to the Oregon border and Lake Tahoe to the Pacific Ocean.

This group helped him adjust to retirement and start down a new path; having fun and filling the void that used to be work.  He now has activities lined up almost every day of the week. He does things like golf, bowling, tennis, cards, computers, and volunteer work.  He and his wife also go on trips together with this new group of friends.

SIR's motto is "Men Enjoying Active Retirement."
Check them out at SIRINC.org.
