Book Recommendations for Book Club

One of my most dearest Utah friends came to stay with me for a few days and one of the topics we always discuss is "what have you read lately that you loved?"  Since we have similar tastes in books, it is always one of my favorite discussions.

Here are the books she recommended:

  • Prayers for Sale by Sandra Dallas
  • Dreams of Joy by Lisa See
  • The Chase by Clive Cussler
  • The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks (if you liked the Notebook, you'll like this)
  • The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society; a Novel by Mary Ann Shaffer
  • Hotel on the Corner of Bitter & Sweet by Jamie Ford
  • Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay
  • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (written from Death's point of view)
  • The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
  • The Glassblower of Murano by Marina Florato
  • The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe (Historical about Salem)
  • John Adams by David McCullough (She said she was captivated with the first 2 lines)
  • Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer by James L. Swanson (An eye opener about this part of history)
  • April 1865; The Month That Saved America by Jay Winik (She LOVED this one!)
  • The Man from Beijing by Henning Mankell
  • The Help by Kathryn Stockett
I'll be taking this list of reading recommendations to our next Book Club.

I do so enjoy delving in and reading a good book that one of my friends absolutely loved.  Perhaps you, too, will find something you might like to try from this list, too.
