Things to See and Do in the North and South Bay of SF

It is SUMMER and time to vacation!
When you come to San Francisco, there are lots of things to see and do. San Francisco's North Bay, Napa, and the South bay have interesting things to do, too. Depending on your interests and the amount of time you have available, here are a few things that I recommend:

LOC

ACTIVITY

DESCRIPTION

NORTH BAY

Muir Woods

Giant redwood trees with great energy. An easy stroll through some magnificent giants (be there at 8:00 am before the crowds)

Stinson Beach

If you love the ocean and the beach, this is one of the best (unless there is a shark siting and then there is action of a different sort. Sometimes you can see dophins swimming by as you sit on the beach.

Point Reyes

The best place to go kayaking is Point Reyes. The water is calm and it is like being on a mirror. You can see the floating jelly fish. Lovely.

Sausalito & Tiburon

Has the best view of San Francisco. Beautiful setting. Artsy fartsy. Very upscale

Marin Headlands

Best place to take a photo of the Golden Gate.

NAPA

Wine Tasting

Beautiful vineyards, the buildings are showcases of art and the variety of wines is phenomenal.

SOUTH BAY

Silicon Valley

See where the world changed; Apple, Google, Oracle, The Tech Museum

Stanford

A beautiful campus. You will even feel smarter after you visit there.

Great list. Except for the kayaking, I think I've completed your list. One point of contention ... after visiting Stanford I do NOT feel smarter. In fact, just the opposite is true. Thank goodness for the wine tasting after which I feel smart again.
