An Action- Packed Holiday Weekend

This weekend is Chinese New Years, a big weekend here in the Bay Area (San Fran). The official new year starts Feb. 13,2010 at 6:51 PM, PST and for good luck, everyone is advised to party hardy. Throw in the fact Valentines follows immediately after the New Year (Feb 14) AND the realization Monday is Presidents Day (an official holiday), the weekend should be packed full of excitement and activities.

Saturday you should begin the weekend with friends, food, music (in honor of the Tiger) followed by a romantic Sunday that should include heart covered chocolates and gentle whispers in your lovers ear. (If you don't have a lover, buy an ear of corn and lather it with lots of butter). Monday you can leisurely sit around chatting with others about bullsh_t while blowing billows of smoke. (For those who don't smoke, I recommend using blow bubbles. They are filled with hot air and very much can symbolize many of our former Presidents we may be honoring that day).

These suggestions are sure to help bring in an exciting Tiger year.

Susan Levitt has provided some information about what we can expect during Tiger year. This may help you begin to prime your party pump to get you ready to kick off this new year:

Mighty Tiger pounces in after a slow Ox year. Anticipate a dynamic year of sudden opportunities and bold actions. Tiger brings drama and excitement, tempers flare, and the wildest dreams can come true. Volume is turned up to a roar and life experiences are on a grand scale. There is little restraint as brave Tiger pounces on new endeavors. Expect massive social change, political rebellion, and military coups all over the world.

People born in Tiger years (1902, 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010) have a regal quality and assume the leadership role whenever possible. Tigers are free thinkers and non-conformists like their Western counterpart Aquarius. They naturally possess strength, determination, and charisma. No matter how many obstacles lie in their path, they will courageously pursue their goals. Despite the independent and dynamic mask they wear to the world, underneath their fur the Tiger is sensitive and emotional. A Tiger demands much attention from a partner, but when given enough love and support can turn into a gentle pussy cat.

2010 is the year of the metal Tiger. Metal is one of the five Taoist elements metal, water, wood, fire, and earth. Metal's color is white, water is black, wood is green, fire is red, and earth is yellow. According to legend, tigers live one thousand years. Half way through life at age five hundred, they turn white. Tigers scare off thieves, ghosts, and fires. Tiger is a powerful animal totem to contact in the shamanic realm to assist in banishments and purifications. Tiger magic is luckiest for those born in Tiger, Horse, Dog, and Pig years. Only wily Monkey is not compatible with the ways of the Tiger. Plan to throw a big celebration to welcome the year of the white Tiger.

So happy new year to each of you. Your wildest dreams should becoming true sometime after tomorrow night. Of course, you realize there is no expiration date on wildest dreams so it may happen ANYTIME after tomorrow. (I know my dreams are pretty wild and usually involve a lot of oil...but I digress). Happy New Year!
