Moving Rocks

Have you ever seen rocks move without the help of gravity, or assistance from humans, or even aide from animals or machines?

At Death Valley there is a known phenomenon on the Racetrack Playa where the stones move without any intervention at all. It is even up a gradual uphill slope. And the 162 stones leave a marked trail of their travels.

No person has ever seen the rocks move, but people have been tracking the relocation of these rocks over decades. Some think they are moved by Aliens. But most scientists believe the movement is caused by moisture along with some very, very strong winds (up to 90 mph).

But needless to say, it is an interesting aspect of geology, right here in beautiful CA. Something pretty cool to check out.
