Here is the medical office in Capri, Italy. What is interesting is that the prices are posted on the door so you know what you will need to pay before you even walk through the door. An ambulance will cost 15 euro's (about $23), a prescription will be 10 euro's (about $16), and 25 euros for a house visit (about $40).
Wouldn't that be nice to know ahead of time what the expected rate will be? And wouldn't it be nice to stop all that cost shifting so the same price is charged no matter who you are or what insurance plan you have?
